Master the NDIS
capability framework

Is this you?

  • Tired of not knowing if your work is good enough

  • Frustrated that your organisation doesn’t give you proper processes or frameworks to follow

  • Fighting overwhelm from the endless admin tasks

  • Feeling lost with how to put your portfolio together

  • Struggling to keep up with the constant NDIS changes

  • Feeling alone and like no one really has your back

  • Anxious you’re making mistakes — and scared about complaints

And honestly?

  • Worried that the industry is going to eat you alive before you’ve even achieved endorsement from the Commission

I GET IT...

Navigating the endless NDIS requirements is confusing.

There’s so much information available, it can be overwhelming and confusing. Plus, the expectations from the NDIS Commission, your employer, your clients… it can feel like you are drowning under the pressure.

It’s even harder if you’re new, or your manager cares more about whether you meet KPIs than spending time mentoring or guiding you.

And those days where you honestly have no idea if what you’re doing is good enough? Ugh. They can really mess with your confidence.

Every day is so different, and there’s so much to learn, understand, and implement. It can feel like a minefield, and the overwhelm can be debilitating.

And somehow, you still need to gather evidence to prove you have the knowledge and skills listed in the capability framework. Which seems like a scary task, because so often you’re not even sure you’re doing the right thing.

If you’re anything like I once was, you’re longing for someone to just explain the ins and outs of your job when it comes to anything NDIS — in a simple way that makes you feel like you’ve got this

WHAT IF, INSTEAD...

You knew where to get the answers you need.
That you felt sure and supported — every day.
That even on the hard days, you knew where to turn.

Even if you’re brand new and haven’t worked in behaviour support before.

  • Amy’s behaviour support practitioner training offers a clear path forward in a complex NDIS minefield that can feel overwhelming — even for people like me who have been in the NDIS field for many years.

    Tanya
    Senior Behaviour Clinician

Having a safe space with an Advanced Specialist Practitioner who has neuro-affirming and evidence-based answers to all your questions

Having access to completed examples by a practitioner with 10,000+ hours’ experience

Belonging to a connected community of other practitioners who feel just like you

Knowing exactly what ‘evidence’ means for your self-assessment portfolio – and having support as you create it

Being able to choose the right tool or template for every task

    Safina,
Behaviour Support Practitioner

Hi, I'm Amy

And I’m so glad you’re here.

Once upon a time, I was just like you.

Grappling with the NDIS Capability Framework. Wrestling with overwhelm. Constantly second-guessing. Never quite knowing if my work was good enough, or even if I was doing the right thing.

But now, with over 10,000 practitioner hours and more than 3,000 hours as a supervisor, I know the Framework so well I could literally write a book about it. And I want to help you wrap your head around it too.

Because when we know more, we do better.

I am passionate about supporting practitioners like you develop your own sense of confidence so you can have no doubt you’re doing your job well, and can defend yourself and your clinical choices about your practice.

This job isn’t easy, and when you're new, self-doubt can creep in. The pressure to cut corners for KPIs is real. I’m passionate about helping you become a confident practitioner who knows their role and boundaries.

The people we support deserve better than cutting corners. You deserve better too. You deserve confidence so you can always provide evidence-based, best-practice approaches to the people you support.

Even when someone with authority challenges you.

What is the Banksia Behaviour Practitioner Pathway?

The Practitioner Pathway is the most comprehensive and resource-rich course for behaviour practitioners in Australia.

I’ve designed it with one vital goal in mind

up and feel confident from the get-go.

This is not just another self-paced course.

This is every template, resource, case study, assessment, support, and community
EVERYTHING you need to feel like you know exactly what you’re doing.

PLUS!

It’s the only Positive Behaviour Support course in Australia that has been reviewed and endorsed by industry specialist, Dr Jeffrey Chan.

The Pathway has been independently reviewed by Dr Chan to ensure my program is of the highest quality, and the best value for your time and your investment

Dr Chan’s endorsement

I highly recommend Amy’s program to early-career
PBS practitioners.

Beyond its strong educational foundation, the program is thoughtfully constructed, covering cultural competency, quality of life, supported decision-making, and the real-world challenges practitioners will encounter. It offers honest guidance and an educative tone that underscores human rights and a humanistic perspective, moving beyond just technical or clinical PBS competencies.

It’s a comprehensive educational and practical resource that meets best-practice standards in PBS.

Pathway course for?

Transitioning into the NDIS space.

Experienced practitioners

Seeking to solidify their understanding and skills.

Allied health professionals

And educators aiming to expand their expertise.

Anyone passionate about supporting and influencing positive change

For individuals with disabilities.

Who is it not for?

This course isn’t for practitioners who aren’t committed to learning, self-reflection, or being challenged about your practice.

It’s also not for you if you love cutting corners to meet KPIs, or winging it through the NDIS and hoping you’ll get it right.

The NDIS Capability Framework is not only complex, it’s always changing. This means our job and our requirements as Practitioners are always changing too.

The Pathway has the most up-to-date information in one place — saving you time looking for answers in 100 different places. When you join the Pathway, I’ll be here to help you feel empowered through supported education. I’ll offer a safe space to reflect, and a place where every question is welcome.

Here’s what your pathway to empowerment looks like

  • This is our gentle start. We kick off by becoming familiar with the world of NDIS Behaviour Support, I’ll guide you through the core values expected from people who support NDIS participants, and the underlying principles of the Positive Behaviour Support framework.

    You’ll learn:

    • The must-know values for quality disability support

    • How to apply human rights in your practice

    • Recognising and responding to unmet needs

    • The essentials of Positive Behaviour Support

    • Breaking down the NDIS Capability Framework

    • Key frameworks to guide best practice

    • Understanding the clients you’ll support

Each module is accompanied by a comprehensive handbook filled with how-to guides, templates, resources, research references, case studies, and much more.

  • Risk as it relates to behaviour support is, well, risky business. And I know it can seem scary. So I teach you all the ways you can mitigate risk with evidence-informed and neuro-affirming strategies.

In the course, you’ll be given everything you need to develop an Interim Behaviour Support Plan (including sample fully completed plans). You’ll be able to write a plan that has general preventative and responsive strategies designed to keep a person with disability and others safe.

    You’ll learn:

    • Create person-centered safety plans and document risk effectively

    • Understand why risk management is essential in practice

    • Identify high-risk situations before they escalate

    • Understand Restricted Practices & least-restrictive options

    • Write Interim Plans that meet NDIS standards

  • Completing a functional behavioural assessment (FBA) is crucial to pinpoint the triggers, behaviours, and consequences behind challenging behaviours. This module is dedicated to getting really familiar with how to both approach and write them.

Knowing how to do this is so important because then you can tailor interventions, ensuring a more effective and targeted approach to behaviour management, which may be lacking without the insights provided by a thorough FBA.

    You’ll learn:

    • Understand why behaviours happen (functions of behaviour)

    • Assess behaviour while improving quality of life

    • Collect and use data to guide support

    • Recognising behaviour vs. its underlying cause

    • Write a Functional Behaviour Assessment with confidence

  • An NDIS behaviour support plan is a document developed for a person with disability. This plan specifies a range of person-centered, proactive strategies that focus on the individual needs of the person.

I’ll guide you through how to do this, with the goal being to build on the person’s strengths and address any behaviours of concern. These strategies matter because they aim to reduce and eliminate the need for regulated restrictive practices.

    You’ll learn:

    • Create comprehensive support plans that are practical and easy to use

    • Develop proactive strategies to improve quality of life

    • Identify and overcome barriers to implementation

    • Ensure support teams know what to do in a crisis

    • Understand the purpose of and develop restricted practice protocols

  • As a practitioner, you need to have the capability to put the behaviour support plan into action.

This includes being able to adapt strategies to different environments, train those in the person’s support system to implement the plan, monitor progress, and make changes to the plan as required.

    You’ll learn:

    • Implement behaviour support plans effectively

    • Tailor strategies to different life stages

    • Train and support teams for consistency

    • Incorporate strategies into daily routines

    • Provide feedback and improve implementation

  • Our work as practitioners goes beyond developing a behaviour support plan. As practitioners, we need the capability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan, review strategies to ensure that quality of life outcomes are achieved, and are working towards the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.

    You’ll learn:

    • Review and update behaviour support plans

    • Track progress and measure effectiveness

    • Ensure strategies are followed correctly

    • Use data to guide improvements

    • Collaborate with teams to refine support

  • This is the module I’m most passionate about, and I can’t wait to take you through it. I believe the use of restrictive practices in Australia needs to change, and you will get a flavour of this in the course.

I’ll take you through what you must know from a legal and ethical standpoint, and teach you how to recommend a regulated restrictive practice in a behaviour support plan according to safeguard requirements. What you’ll also learn and take from this module is my years of experience in seeing what works, what doesn’t, and how to advocate for your clients.

    You’ll learn:

    • When and how restrictive practices can be used and when they shouldn’t be used

    • Legal and ethical requirements for approval and authorisation

    • Why restrictive practices must be a last resort and how to plan for fade out

    • How to align with NDIS and state laws for authorisation

    • How to ensure compliance in behaviour support plans

  • Your success as a practitioner can only ever be as good as your appetite for learning and growth. A desire to be the best possible practitioner means always working to extend your knowledge and skills, so you can continuously deliver consistent, safe, and high-quality behaviour support services that improve your clients’ wellbeing and quality of life.

    You’ll learn:

    • How to grow your skills through lifelong learning

    • Set and achieve professional development goals

    • Make the most of supervision and feedback

    • Build a strong, supportive supervision relationship

    • Create and follow an annual development plan

Let me help you learn what you don’t know and feel ok

Why am I so sure?

As well as the thousands of hours I’ve put into this course, the industry endorsement, endless testimonials, and knowing how much I genuinely care about your success:

  • I’m an Advanced Specialist Practitioner, clinical supervisor, trainer and consultant

  • I’ve spent 20 years supporting children and young people as an educator, youth worker, mental health & disability advocate, educational leader, special education consultant, parent coach and behaviour clinician

  • I’ve been recognised both in Australia and Internationally for both business and disability leadership including Silver for Disability Leadership at the 2024 Women Changing The World Awards

  • I'm an autistic woman with ADHD, who also lives with learning disability and chronic illness. So I’ve lived on both sides of the work I do (and wrestled NDIS as a participant's representative!)

  • I’ve studied psychology, social work, disability policy and hold postgraduate qualifications in youth work, special education and leadership.

  • I genuinely want you to feel empowered to try new things, be ok with making mistakes, and love learning from them. Without fear of judgment or criticism.

A few success stories

Ok I’m in!

I can’t wait to be surrounded by other practitioners like me, and learn from an Advanced Specialist Practitioner who will hold my hand through all the tough stuff.
